Entalto Publishing and Maboroshi Artworks have announced SOMBRAS: negative frames, a first-person adventure with light horror elements and a focus on photography. The game is set to release in the fourth quarter of 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
At the center of the story is Shiomi Alterio, a Japanese-Spanish photography student who, after her parents' divorce, lives with her father in a small Japanese town. After being forced to leave her life in Europe, Shiomi finds herself one night in a dark dimension filled with familiar streets, hungry shadows, and girls who look just like her.
SOMBRAS: negative frames combines a nostalgic narrative adventure, psychological themes, and a photography system. Players will explore the liminal streets of a distorted version of a Japanese town from the 2000s, photograph unusual scenes, develop film, upgrade their camera, and collect occult items. Additionally, Shiomi will have to confront repressed fears, alternative versions of herself, and fragments of her own family trauma.
This is the second game from Maboroshi Artworks, known for the award-winning title Last Time I Saw You. SOMBRAS: negative frames was previously announced under the codename Project BLUR. Original information confirms the release for the fourth quarter of 2026.
