Croatian Ajvar Studio has announced its new game Sunset Survival: Miami for PC via Steam, with the presentation held during the Games from Croatia Steam festival. It is a top-down PvE extraction shooter where players try to survive a neon apocalypse in a Miami overrun by mutants.
Players can expect a dangerous Miami where every passage is a potential deadly trap, but that's where the best loot is hidden. The goal is to gather supplies, fight against hordes of enemies, upgrade the base, and unlock new skills. The city will be divided into different regions, and players will be able to explore interiors such as hotels, bars, apartments, and nightclubs.
The founder of Ajvar Studio, Zoran Domuzin, stated that with this game he wants to combine his love for the movies and series Scarface, Vice City, and Miami Vice with classic zombie horror. The idea was to take a sunny summer paradise and turn it into a playground for the undead, but without relying on dark and gritty clichés of the genre. The main protagonist is envisioned as a walking headline from the “Florida Man” column, through whose perspective the apocalypse is explored.
Sunset Survival: Miami features battles against various mutant enemies, random loot collection, dynamic weather, and a day-night cycle. Miami is dangerous during the day, but after sunset, it becomes even deadlier. That’s when the worst monsters emerge from the shadows, the city sinks into darkness, and players must rely on a flashlight battery that can run out. Night also brings the rarest loot.
Survival does not end until the player escapes the city. The escape may involve returning to the boat, defending a helipad, or other unusual ways of leaving the danger zone. In case of death, all found loot remains lost.
A safe place is located at the island base, where players can bring resources, build new structures, repair existing ones, and permanently upgrade stats. Developing the base attracts new survivors, unlocks new skills, and prepares players for the next trip to Miami.
Additional information about the game will be revealed later.
