Believe it or not, there is a possibility that Grand Theft Auto will be released on disk! According to the Polish portal PPL, the physical edition of the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S is expected to be available for sale in early December 2026, just before the holidays. This would allow Rockstar and its parent company Take-Two to earn additional revenue, as well as encourage fans of the series and parents who want to gift the game to their children to purchase the physical edition.
So far, this news has not been officially confirmed, but we wouldn't be surprised if it's true. More information about the possible physical edition should be revealed in the coming months. As for the release of the PC version of the game, we will most likely have to wait at least a year. Additionally, the release of an upgraded PlayStation 6 and Xbox Next version is expected.
For all die-hard collectors, the question is whether to get the digital edition or wait for the potential disk release! Personally, I am a fan of disks, for the reason that I can sell, lend, and gift the game. I prefer digital only when games are available at affordable prices. 100.00 euros for a digital AAA game, which could become the standard, does not appeal to me at all. That's too much money for a few hours of virtual entertainment!
And yes, if this information turns out to be true, the question is how many disks GTA VI will be. 2? 3? Will the game break the record of Call of Duty games that are over 200 GB after download/installation?
