Phoenix Game Productions has unveiled the Steam page for Wasabi, their new first-person psychological horror thriller adventure for PC. The game is set in Azumino City in Nagano Prefecture during the 1990s, and players take on the role of detective Ryuhei Kuroshima who investigates a chilling series of murders. Wasabi is envisioned as a TV drama-style horror thriller where a classic detective investigation gradually turns into something much darker. Players will examine crime scenes, collect evidence, analyze victims, and search for clues that lead to a disturbing connection with a cult.
A special emphasis is placed on interrogating suspects, where it is not enough to just listen to their answers. Players will need to observe facial expressions, gestures, behavior, and silence to uncover contradictions and hidden details. An important role is also played by a mysterious power known as “Wasabi,” which allows for deeper insight into secrets hidden beneath the surface. The game uses Unreal Engine 5 to depict a realistic yet unsettling vision of rural Japan in the 90s, with photorealistic locations, tense interrogations, and elements of supernatural horror. Wasabi currently has no release date, but it can already be added to your wishlist on Steam, with a demo announced for an upcoming release.
