Moby Professional is a new beta program from MobyGames that helps developers and other professionals in the gaming industry with job searching, networking, and business development.

Atari has announced Moby Professional, a new set of free and premium tools within the MobyGames platform, aimed at people working in the video game industry. This is a beta program designed to assist developers, producers, publishers, and other professionals in job searching, business development, and connecting with other professionals.

MobyGames has built one of the most comprehensive databases of video games and the people who created them over the past 25 years. According to Atari, the database now includes information on over 350,000 games and add-ons, 1.3 million individuals, and 50,000 companies. It is on this basis that Moby Professional was created, a tool that aims to better utilize verified developer credits and professional connections within the industry.

The new free part of the service allows professionals to take control of their own profile on MobyGames. Users will be able to verify their identity, take over their developer profile, add more detailed information about individual credits, describe their roles and the companies they have worked for, and manage privacy settings.

The premium subscription upgrades this foundation with additional networking tools, job market tracking, and personalized recommendations. Moby Professional is expected to enable users to visualize their professional network, track games, colleagues, and companies related to their work, access personalized job ads, gain insights into salary ranges, and obtain information about contacts already working at targeted companies. The price of the premium subscription is expected to be $14.99 per month, with possible discounts for beta program participants.

Atari particularly emphasizes that the gaming industry has gone through a difficult period in recent years, marked by layoffs, studio closures, consolidation, and the rise of freelance work. This has created a need for tools that better understand the specifics of careers in the video game industry, where credits, projects, and a network of collaborators often carry significant weight.

The beta phase of the program is expected to last until the end of summer, and the MobyGames team announces that they will actively collect feedback from users during this period. Atari acquired MobyGames in March 2022 with the aim of further developing the platform and preserving data on the history of video games, and Moby Professional represents a new step in expanding its role from a database to a professional network for the gaming industry.
