I believe there is no gamer who hasn't heard of Yoshi - that adorable green sidekick of Mario.
But he is more than just an ordinary sidekick. He is a fighter. He is a savior. He is Yoshi - the most famous dinosaur in the gaming world!
Since 2019 and Yoshi's Crafted World, we have been waiting for Yoshi to get his own game. Although the new game was announced last September as part of the 40th anniversary of the Super Mario franchise, the wait is soon over: on May 21, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2, the ninth title from the collection, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, is coming to us.
So, what do we know about this game?
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is a side-scrolling platformer in which you will play as Yoshi exploring a magical encyclopedia named Mr.E (Mystery, ed.) that falls from the sky onto Yoshi's island. Since Mr.E cannot read its own pages containing information about various creatures, you, i.e., Yoshi, will use Mr.E's magical magnifying glass to jump into the pages of the book and document all those creatures.
Along with Yoshi's standard abilities, which include Flutter, Ground pound, and devouring enemies and turning them into eggs, various creatures will now be able to ride on Yoshi's back, granting him special abilities. Every creature you document will also be able to be named - Mr.E will suggest a name, but you can let your imagination run wild.
Expect top-notch cartoon graphics with stop-motion animations and a colorful world full of adorable creatures just waiting to be discovered, all accompanied by the classic Yoshi soundtrack.
