The next major update for Destiny 2, titled Shadow and Order, has officially been postponed to June 9, 2026. The development team at Bungie announced that the reason for the delay is the need for "extensive changes" and greater improvements to gameplay quality, including the previously announced weapon level upgrade system. Although the DLC is delayed, regular game updates will continue throughout June, with planned events such as the Guardian Games in March. More information about the expansion will be released closer to the launch.
The delay had previously been the subject of rumors, partly due to the desire to avoid overlap with the release of Marathon, Bungie's new shooter. A collaboration between the games has also been announced.
