Sony Group Corporation and Bandai Namco Holdings signed a strategic business alliance in which Sony took over 2.5% stake in Bandai Namco, acquiring 16 million shares for approximately ¥68 billion (~US$464 million) The partnership focuses on expanding fan bases for anime and manga IPs globally, strengthening community engagement, and creating new, emotionally impactful content and experiences. Sony will leverage its strengths in production, video content distribution and merchandising, while Bandai Namco will contribute its strong IPs and connection to fans. Joint projects in the fields of anime, manga, music and interactive entertainment are also expected.
