An Austrian court has ruled that FIFA Ultimate Team packages are not gambling. According to the decision of the Higher Regional Court in Vienna, these packages are not considered gambling because they are used exclusively within the game and do not generate profit. The court assessed that the economic risk is not present, which means that this is not a game of chance. Electronic Arts (EA) welcomed the decision, noting that spending money in-game is always optional and that most players don't spend money. This ruling follows similar decisions by other Austrian courts and could affect future cases related to loot boxes in video games.
