Fortnite is once again available on the App Store worldwide after a years-long dispute between Epic Games and Apple over fees and in-app payment rules.
Epic claims that Apple charges excessively high commissions and restricts competition by banning alternative app stores and other payment methods. The company states that it expects U.S. courts to force Apple to be more transparent about App Store costs, which could encourage regulators worldwide to make changes. Epic also accuses Apple of trying to circumvent new laws in certain states through additional fees and stricter rules, despite regulatory changes in Japan, the European Union, and the United Kingdom.
However, Fortnite has not yet returned to the Australian App Store. Epic claims that it won a court case against Apple there, but the company continues to enforce terms that the court deems illegal, which is why the game remains unavailable to users in Australia for now.
